We 1st met Balushka who lived in our beloved Houston Tx while planning our photoshoot for the new 2012 Bridal collection of which we were creating a backdrop unique enough for our ad running in Martha Stewart Magazine.  Balushka quickly went to work on all Ivory flowers and shipped them in 10 boxes in time for the shoot.  As we unpacked the flowers we found each one unique in some fashion.  The art and creativity behind these jems tell a story on their own.

Over the years the flowers travelled with us from the photo studio to the 1st Kelly Chase couture Flagship salon and finally to our current salon where they greet you at the entrance and while trying on gowns.  Each day I see them I remember the artist behind these beauties as well as when our clients ask…as they all do.

In Oct 2014 while in NYC showing at the London we connected with Balushka who was installing a flower wall at the NYC library for the Bridal Market week Knot party.  We finally were able to meet in person, an artist I so admired.

Over the next few years I would say to Chase – I want some more art from Balushka but in color.  While sketching in NYC in April 2018 we connected with Balushka to discuss the new flowers.  The new flowers arrived in the robins egg blue of our Kelly Chase Logo with each one unique in size and shape.  I love each and every one of them.

Later that Summer we found out Balushka was fighting a rare form of Cancer and passed away in Oct 2018.  I think about her every time I see the flowers in our store and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented artist.
